“Neighbors” ©️C.P. Hickey 2019

“Adjacent Anxiety”

It is a crime, unkindly,

To share your adjacent anxiety.

I was fine until you sat beside me,

And plied me with raincloud intensity.

Caught in a Charlie Brown reverie,

Your sucking up all of my energy.

Looking forward to when you’re away from me.

So I can regain a chance to breathe.

Spending your life in misery,

Affects others through adjacent anxiety.
