SUMMERTIME RHYMES- # 27 “The Pain Incurred”

“The Pain Incurred”

I sit in places my Father once sat.

On the very chairs he sat on.

He is not there.

I don’t know where he went.

One day…

Not there.

Yet, the buildings he worked in,

And, the trains he took to get to those buildings,

And, the clocks he watched for years are still upon the walls.

He is not there.

I don’t know where he went.

One day…

Not there.

I sit in chairs.

Work in buildings.

Watch clocks.

I am still here.

I don’t know where I am.

One day…
