SUMMERTIME RHYMES- # 26 “I Don’t Want To Be An Obituary”

“I Don’t Want To Be An Obituary”

Defined succinctly,
Without soul.
Some brevity,
Levity,
No chance for parole.
Death unencumbered,
The last liberty.
Periodical announcement,
Ten lines for a fee.
Surly summation,
Posthumously.
Made for the living,
The deceased are carefree.
Despite that truism,
Ultimately,
I’d rather be living;
Than an obituary.
