“Interference”
Butterflies and finger-paints.
Snacks and toys and paper planes.
Hide n’seek, imaginary friends,
Where’s the line when childhood ends?
Stepped on toes,
Raw runny nose.
Stomped storm puddles,
happy hug huddles.
Who am I to interfere?
With the joy of children here.
Chaos reigns and order wanes,
able adventurous sponge-like brains.
The mystery of life is known,
until adults get you alone.
As time goes by the magic leaves,
leave those kids alone, please.
Leave those kids alone!
Please!
