“Recollections”

Past-enduring recollections,

Haunt my present mind.

The reality of such sweet confections,

Can’t stand the test of time.

Instilled, enthralled, and best beguiled,

Reaching for relief.

Selective thoughts now for a while,

Disrupting inner peace.

Without a memory, of to mark,

All those things don’t stand.

Phantoms journey through the dark,

And slip through desperate hands.

I often visit wishing wells,

The depth profound and long.

Memories all but hollow shells,

Of all that I did wrong.

Forgetting a priority,

Meddling with imperfections.

Amnesia, needs to set me free,

From chimerical recollections.
