“Tiredness”

Restless legs, crazy legs,

ottoman dance.

Whitey-tighty undies,

underneath discarded pants.

Apnea, happier, afternoon siesta.

Barking yipper on a leash,

was the clear aggressor.

Ambien a sominal,

or was it the Lunesta?

A bruised umpire,

sole survivor,

forgot his chest protector.

Counting strikes.

Counting sheep.

One, two, three.

Pillow talk,

last resort,

insomnia captured me.

Put me down,

not a sound.

Perhaps, some white noise?

R.E.M,

circadian,

wash your sex toys.

Rising chest,

divested rest,

sensory deprivation.

Dreamland speaks,

for those who seek,

slumber time salvation.

A very special thanks to today’s long day’s journey into night. The procrastination that occurred today was epic, and of a professional nature. However, I’m happy with the result. Tired is as tired does, but perhaps I found the sweet spot, lingering somewhere within the madness of yearning for much needed sleep.

40/40: Summer Poem Slam-a-bam is a ongoing project in which people have joined me for 40 days and 40 nights of on-demand poetry. They have submitted the concepts, ideas, and subjects; I’ve done the rest.
